Volunteers

Our service is built on the contribution of volunteers, working at our three sites in Stockport, Cheadle and Marple.

Volunteers give a minimum of one day a week, Monday to Friday.

Most volunteers train to become qualified advisers. The CAB Certificate in Generalist Advice Work – equivalent to NVQ Level 3 – is widely respected and recognised in the UK advice sector.

Volunteers also play other roles. IT volunteers provide direct support to delivery of the advice service. Administrative volunteers support local bureau operations.

Expenses are paid for travel. Some costs of childcare or care for dependants may be met (with funding provided by the Lloyds TSB Foundation).
