About Us
The Citizens Advice
Bureau service was founded in Stockport in 1939. The current Stockport
District CAB was created in 1999 by the merger of Stockport CAB and
Marple CAB, to work across the whole Stockport Metropolitan Borough
Council area.
Our primary funding
is provided by Stockport MBC, but we are an independent charity. We
are governed through a Trustee Board made up of local people.
Stockport District
CAB currently employs twelve paid staff, and has around seventy active volunteers.
Our volunteers provide the bulk of our advice to clients.
As a member of Citizens
Advice (the National Association of CABx) we subscribe to the CAB service
aims:
- To provide the advice people need for the problems they face
- To improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.
