Debt advice

Demand for debt advice in Stockport is very high, as it is in other parts of Greater Manchester and nationally. Help with debt and welfare benefits advice each make up more than 20% of all new requests for advice to Stockport District CAB.

All our advisers give debt advice but since 2006, with support from the government's Financial Inclusion Fund, we have offered an additional specialist debt advice service. Our Debt Caseworker works with people referred from our other advisers.  We are cuurrently waiting for confirmation of funding for this project to continue from July 2008.

Under contracts from the Legal Services Commission debt advice is also provided by Stockport MBC's Welfare Rights Service/Stockport Advice.
